Still 100% raw, and still moving forward. It been very hard to not slip on the raw diet the last couple of days. I was feeling worn out from chopping and eating veggies, on Saturday I really just wanted to not ‘think’ about food for the day. I did not eat as well, I succumbed and ate quite a few grapefruits which I was seriously craving. My sugar/carb intake did not spike that day, so that is good.
Sunday, I ate a banana. Yes, that would seem like a no big statement to most, but seriously, I have not eaten a banana ever in my recollection. Maybe when I was a baby, but as far back as I can remember at least, I have not liked bananas. I have been able to eat banana bread, and maybe a banana chip now and again, but other then that, anything banana or flavored was right up there at the top of my dislike list.
I was leaving the house to be gone for awhile today, packing a few items, and I saw a banana and just said “I am going to eat that today”, and put it in my bag. I chose a ripe one, but not overly so. I ate it slowly, tasting it, feeling the texture, taking small bites. I cannot recall the last time I attempted to try a straight raw banana. I would not say I am at a point where I could chomp down on one every day, and most definitely I still cannot add it to say a smoothie, but I will say as a plain snack it was not that bad really.
I do not know if this flavor change is due to the raw, or the fact my food selection is limited and I was forced to try something I really had ignored for quite a long time. Interesting though. Will be nice if I can eat them going forward, since it is convenient and usually easily found.
My fruits have increased quite a bit over the last few days. I am recording my carb and sugar intake, and watching my symptoms, but even with the increase in fruits, there hasn’t been much of a change there.
Overall, I am feeling generally good, but no serious improvement from say 2-3 days ago. My digestive track was a bit off this afternoon, but it is hard to say if that is food or hormonal related. Not going to make any changes, just going to record and observe. I still have good energy, but not ready to say that it is more then prior to this challenge. My motivation or focus struggles are the same, and overall, I do not see a noticeable boost in my mental clarity. To be fair though, I do feel my energy was pretty high before this diet conversion, and mentally I have made great strides over the last couple years, so the raw diet would need a significant boost for me to recognize an increase.
